further details and history of the Ackermannshof.
in Basel’s St. Johann district is a stone's throw from the Rhine river. A tramline runs from directly outside the building and takes you to both, Badische Bahnhof and Swiss train stations within 10 minutes.
The Ackermannshof building complex originates from the 13th century and through its many creative inhabitants reflects time and art history beautifully.
The building served temporarily as a printing plant; finally closing it’s doors in 2001. Other notably important uses of the buildings were as a studio for the artist Dieter Roth (1930-1998) and as the home of the Café Imprimerie created in 1998 as a hub for artists, architects and graphic designers.
